🤔

Deep Reflection

A method for deep reflection to improve performance and learning, both individually and in group settings. This module will focus on building a shared understanding of learning processes.

Assess the Outcome

Weekly

Evaluate the outcome of a recent team event and compare it to the expected outcome as a group. Identify the gap and document observable behaviors that contributed.

Make sure you have an assessment of exactly what that outcome was versus what it should have been or the gap associated with it.

discussion

Connect Actions to Outcome

Weekly

Analyze the actions taken by the team during the event and their direct connection to the observed outcome. Discuss alternative actions and their potential impact.

Ask yourself what actions did I take to get to this outcome and deeply understand the connection between the actions and the outcome.

discussion

Uncover Underlying Thinking

Weekly

Identify the thought processes and team dynamics that led to the specific actions. Explore cognitive biases and their influence on decision-making.

Ask yourself what thinking what was i thinking which led me to the actions that i took which led to the outcome

discussion

Identify Underlying Assumptions

Weekly

Delve into the underlying assumptions that influenced the team's thinking, actions, and ultimately the outcome. Discuss how these assumptions can be challenged and revised.

Digging deep into yourself and saying what assumptions did I have that led me to the actions and the outcome we got.

Breaking Ineffective Leadership Habits

Identify and address common leadership habits that hinder organizational learning and problem-solving. This module incorporates implementation intentions and social support strategies.

Avoid Imposing Solutions

Daily

Recognize and prevent the habit of imposing solutions without understanding the current situation and involving others. Practice active listening and collaborative problem-solving.

The habit of imposing our own solutions on the organization...usually leads to a lot of inefficiencies and confusion.

reflection

Manage Silence and Violence

Daily

Become aware of tendencies towards silence or violence in discussions and strive for balanced, rational communication. Practice empathy and active participation in group discussions.

We individually will have a tendency to move either towards silence or get real quiet...or move to the part of violence where we get very vocal.

reflection

Data with Purpose

Weekly

Ensure data collection is purposeful and connected to specific problems rather than a general search for answers. Develop specific data requests with clear objectives.

When they get information and or data that they do that it doesn't necessarily connect with what they want to do they'll say well go get me more data.

reflection

Avoid Overburdening

Weekly

Prevent overburdening team members with excessive workloads, allowing time for critical thinking and focused work. Implement strategies for workload distribution and time management.

Some leaders believe that the more work I give my people the more work we get done and it turns out that that doesn't always work that way.

reflection

Address Root Causes

Weekly

Resist the urge to apply band-aid solutions and instead invest time in understanding and addressing root causes of problems. Implement root cause analysis techniques.

Well we just don't have time to worry about getting the root cause we don't have time to dig into that just give me the answer and give it to me now and what that does is it creates throwing band-aids on top of solutions
