Triple P Positive Parenting Program
A family-based prevention and intervention program for parents and caregivers of children from birth to 16 years of age. Triple P provides strategies for managing children's behavior, preventing future problems, and building strong relationships. It utilizes evidence-based behavioral principles such as positive reinforcement, effective discipline techniques (avoiding harsh punishment), and promoting positive parent-child interactions to modify parenting behaviors and improve child outcomes. The program addresses key risk factors like family conflict, parental stress, and poor family management, while strengthening protective factors such as parental attachment and coping skills. Different levels of intervention cater to varying family needs and community contexts.
Program Modules
Triple P Program Overview & Community Needs Assessment
Understanding the Triple P program, its theoretical underpinnings (behavioral principles), and its suitability for your community. This involves a thorough assessment of risk and protective factors.
Community Risk Factor Assessment
WeeklyIdentify prevalent risk factors in your community (family conflict, parental stress, ineffective discipline, etc.) using data sources like the Pennsylvania Youth Survey. Analyze the frequency and severity of these factors to inform program implementation.
Community Protective Factor Assessment
WeeklyIdentify existing protective factors to leverage and strengthen (parental support networks, positive parenting skills, access to community resources). This analysis will help tailor the program to community strengths.
Pre-Program Needs Assessment Survey
OnceDevelop and administer a survey to assess parental knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to parenting skills and challenges. This will provide baseline data for program evaluation.
Level 4 Triple P Implementation (Standard & Group Options)
Implementing either Level 4 Standard or Level 4 Group Triple P within your community. This involves detailed training, adherence to specific behavioral intervention strategies (e.g., reinforcement schedules, modeling, prompting), and ongoing monitoring of progress.
Level 4 Standard Training & Accreditation
OnceThree days of initial training focusing on behavioral principles, intervention strategies, and case management. This is followed by a pre-accreditation process and a half-day assessment to ensure competence. Training materials include a practitioner manual, parent/caregiver workbooks, and videos.
Level 4 Group Training & Accreditation
OnceThree days of initial training, emphasizing group facilitation skills and adaptation of behavioral techniques for group settings. This is followed by pre-accreditation support and assessment. Training materials include a facilitator manual, parent/caregiver workbooks, PowerPoint presentations, and videos.
Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting
Utilizing Epicenter's data tools to track program impact. This includes regular monitoring of key outcome measures (e.g., parent-reported behavior problems, child emotional well-being) and generating reports to demonstrate program effectiveness. Includes considerations for ethical data handling and participant confidentiality.

Post-Program Evaluation
Administer a post-program survey to assess changes in parental knowledge, attitudes, and practices, and child behavioral outcomes. Compare results with pre-program assessment data to evaluate program impact and identify areas for improvement.
